Charlie Parker - Parker was one of the most influential Alto Saxophone Jazz players in the 1940s. In 1945 he led his own group while performing with Dizzy Gillespie. Together they invented a new style of jazz called Bebop.

Paul Brodie - Brodie was a famous Canadian Alto Saxophone player. His playing and his clear, full tone greatly extended the appeal of the saxophone in classical music circles. Brodie taught music at the University of Toronto and at York University. At the end of the 60's, Brodie founded the World Saxophone Congress. He played the saxophone in many movie sound tracks such as Heaven Can Wait (1978) and Circle Of Two (1980).

James Moody - He was a famous flute player in Jazz and would occasional play the Alto Saxophone. He joined Dizzy Gillespie's bebop in 1947. Moody toured Europe with Gillespie and then stayed overseas for several years, working with Miles Davis and Max Roach. One of his most famous songs is Moody's Mood for Love.
